How to take cash-on-delivery orders on WhatsApp with an AI sales assistant

Let an AI assistant answer price questions, build the order and collect delivery details on WhatsApp or Messenger, so your team only packs and ships.

Most online shops in Bangladesh sell through chat. A customer sends "price?", someone replies with the price, then asks for the name, phone number and address, and types the order into a spreadsheet. That works at ten orders a day and breaks at a hundred.

This guide shows how to hand the repetitive part to an AI sales assistant while your team keeps control.

What does the AI assistant actually do?

It handles the conversation from first question to placed order:

Step Who does it
Answer "price?", "size?", "in stock?" AI, from your product list
Send product photos AI
Build the cart with options and quantities AI
Collect name, phone, address and delivery area Customer, on the order form
Add the delivery fee and total The system, from your settings
Confirm, pack and ship Your team

How does it avoid wrong prices?

Before it states a price, stock level or option, the assistant looks the product up in your catalog. It is instructed to use only what that lookup returns and never to guess. If the product is not in your list, it says so or hands the chat to your team.

How do customers give their delivery details?

You choose one of two checkout styles:

  • Order form (recommended). As soon as the items are chosen, the customer gets a short form, inside WhatsApp or as a secure link. They pick the delivery area, enter name, phone and address, and tap Place order.
  • In chat. The assistant asks for the details one or two at a time, then sends an exact summary with the total, and places the order only after the customer confirms.

Can my team still reply?

Yes. When someone from your team replies in a chat, the assistant stays quiet in that chat for 15 minutes so two voices never answer at once.

Frequently asked questions

Can the AI take orders in Bangla?

Yes. It replies in the customer's language, including Bangla written in English letters (Banglish), and the order summary can be sent in Bangla or English.

Does the customer have to pay online?

No. Orders taken this way are cash on delivery.

What happens with complaints or wholesale requests?

The assistant hands the chat over to your team for bulk orders, custom requests, complaints and changes to an order that was already placed.

Can it work on Facebook Messenger too?

Order taking runs in the AI chatbot, so it works on the channels the chatbot answers. The in-WhatsApp order form is WhatsApp only; other channels get a secure order-form link.

How do I see the orders?

Each order gets a number such as CH-000123 and appears in your orders list as pending, ready for your team to process, complete or cancel. Your team can also get a notification for every new order.
