What is a WABA?
A WABA, short for WhatsApp Business Account, is the account that represents your business on the WhatsApp Business Platform. It sits inside your Meta business portfolio (the place formerly called Business Manager) and holds:
- the phone numbers you connect to the API,
- your message templates and their approval status,
- each number's display name, quality rating and messaging limit,
- the apps and partners allowed to send messages for you.
Every message sent through the WhatsApp Cloud API belongs to a WABA.
Why does a WABA matter for sellers in Bangladesh?
Many shops start on the WhatsApp Business app on one phone. That works until two or three people need to answer the same number, or you want to send order updates automatically. A WABA moves your number onto the official platform, so a team can share it from a shared inbox, an AI assistant can reply, and you can send approved templates such as delivery updates.
Note that a number used on the WhatsApp Business Platform is generally separate from the app. Check Meta's current options before you move a number that customers already know.
Example
A clothing shop in Dhaka creates a WABA through Meta's embedded signup, connects its hotline number, and submits three templates: an order confirmation, a delivery update and an Eid offer. All three now live in the WABA and can be used from any software the shop connects.
With SaleMag you create and connect the WABA through Meta's signup flow from the channel setup screen, and the number's quality rating and messaging limit show up next to it.

Frequently asked questions
Is a WABA the same as the WhatsApp Business app?
No. The WhatsApp Business app is a phone app for one device. A WABA is an account on Meta's business platform that is used through the API and software like a shared inbox.
Can one WABA have more than one phone number?
Yes. A WABA can hold several phone numbers, and they share the account's message templates.
Do I need a registered company to create a WABA?
You can create a WABA without one, but Meta Business Verification, which unlocks higher limits, needs documents that prove your business is real.
