What is Banglish?
Banglish is Bangla typed with English letters instead of the Bangla script. People also use the word for Bangla sentences mixed with English words. Typical messages a shop receives:
- "dam koto?" (what is the price?)
- "L size e ache?" (do you have size L?)
- "Dhakar baire delivery charge koto?" (what is the delivery charge outside Dhaka?)
- "ji confirm" or "thik ache" (yes, confirmed / okay)
There is no fixed spelling. "Ache", "ase" and "ace" all mean the same word, and many people switch between Bangla script, Banglish and English in a single chat.
Why does it matter for sellers in Bangladesh?
Many chat customers write this way because it is fast on any keyboard. A keyword-based chatbot that only looks for "price" or "দাম" misses "dam koto", and the customer gets a wrong or no reply. An AI agent built on a language model can understand the meaning instead of matching exact words, and answer in the customer's language.
Example
A customer writes: "apu ei kurti ta black e ache? Dhakar baire koto din lagbe?". The AI checks the catalog for the black colour, confirms stock, and answers with the price and the delivery time for outside Dhaka from the shop's own delivery settings.
SaleMag's AI chatbot is told to reply in the language the customer writes in, and its order-confirmation check recognises Banglish replies such as "ji" or "thik ache".

Frequently asked questions
Is there a standard spelling for Banglish?
No. The same word can be written many ways, such as 'ache', 'ase' or 'ace' for 'আছে'. That is why simple keyword rules miss so many Banglish messages.
Should I reply in Banglish too?
Match the customer where it feels natural. Many shops reply in Bangla script or simple Banglish; the important thing is to be clear about price, total and delivery.
Can an AI chatbot understand Banglish?
Modern language models handle it reasonably well, especially when the bot is told to reply in the customer's language and to answer only from your own product data.
