Ask a Facebook seller where their customer list is. The answer is usually "in the inbox" or "in a notebook". The same buyer is in WhatsApp, Messenger and the courier sheet, with three spellings of the name. Before Eid you want to message "everyone who bought last year", and the only way is to scroll for hours.
SaleMag's CRM turns every chat, store order and import into one clean contact list. You can sort it with tags, group it into segments and send a campaign to the right people in a few clicks.
A WhatsApp CRM is a customer database built around phone numbers and chats, so a business can group its customers and message them on WhatsApp, SMS or email.
What is the SaleMag CRM?
SaleMag's CRM is the contact list behind your unified inbox and your campaigns. It is built for Bangladeshi businesses that sell on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, where the phone number is the customer's ID.
Contacts arrive from four places, with no typing:
- A new WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, Telegram or WeChat conversation.
- A customer or order from your connected store. See eCommerce.
- A CSV or Excel import.
- The SaleMag API.
What does SaleMag store about each customer?
SaleMag keeps one record per contact, with the fields in the table:
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Phone | International format; one contact per phone per workspace |
| Name, email | First and last name, email |
| Country, language | Useful for Bangla or English campaigns |
| Tags | Coloured labels such as "Repeat Buyer" or "Wholesale" |
| Opt-ins | Separate flags for WhatsApp, SMS and email |
| Custom fields | Your own key-value data, set through the API or an automation's update-contact step |
| Source, last seen | Where the contact came from and when they were last active |
Open a contact to see their details, tags, segments, opt-ins, custom fields and recent conversations on one page. Agents can change opt-ins from the side panel in the inbox.
How does SaleMag stop duplicate contacts?
SaleMag keeps one contact per phone number in each workspace. When a message, store order or import arrives, SaleMag matches on phone first, then on email, and updates the existing contact. The CSV import does the same and tells you how many rows were created, updated or skipped.
How do I import my customer list from Excel or CSV?
SaleMag imports contacts four ways, compared in the table:
| Method | Best for |
|---|---|
| CSV import wizard | Full lists. Up to 10,000 rows and 10 MB; map columns to 11 fields including tags and opt-ins; header names are detected automatically; tags and segments can be applied to every row |
| Bulk import grid | Quick lists from Excel (.xlsx) or CSV with Name, Phone, Tag and Segment columns; a sample workbook is provided |
| Store sync | Customers from Shopify, WooCommerce or BigCommerce, with lifetime value, last order date and tags like "Repeat Buyer" |
| Chat | Every new WhatsApp, Messenger or Instagram conversation creates or updates a contact |
Export is CSV, filtered by search, tag, segment or the contacts you selected.
What is the difference between a tag and a segment?
A tag is a label on a contact, such as "Repeat Buyer". A segment is a saved audience for campaigns and automations. SaleMag has two kinds of segment:
- Static: a fixed list you add contacts to, one by one or in bulk.
- Dynamic: rules that are checked every time you use the segment, so new contacts who match are included automatically.
Rules combine with AND or OR. They work on phone, email, first and last name, country, language, source, the three opt-in flags, created date and last seen date. Operators include equals, not equals, contains, does not contain, greater or less than, and is empty or not empty.
Example: country equals BD AND WhatsApp opt-in equals yes AND last seen after 1 September.
Segment rules cannot filter by tag. To reach everyone with a tag, pick the tag as the campaign audience.
How do I send a WhatsApp campaign to a customer group?
A SaleMag campaign can target a segment, a tag, a hand-picked contact list or an uploaded CSV. Send it on WhatsApp, SMS or email from broadcasting. For more on planning groups, read WhatsApp CRM tags and segments.
How does SaleMag track WhatsApp, SMS and email opt-in?
SaleMag keeps a separate opt-in flag for each channel and checks it before every campaign send.
- A new customer who messages you first on WhatsApp is opted in for WhatsApp.
- An existing contact's choice is never overwritten.
- The email unsubscribe link switches email opt-in off.
Can the CRM start automations?
Yes. A new contact from a chat, or one you add by hand in SaleMag, can start a flow with the "contact created" trigger, and it fires the contact.created webhook to your own system. Flow steps can add or remove tags and update contact fields. Contacts from CSV imports or the API do not start the "contact created" trigger.
What is the SaleMag lead pipeline for?
SaleMag's lead pipeline is a kanban board for B2B prospects found with the Google Places lead finder, such as an agency looking for restaurants in Gulshan. Chat enquiries cannot be added to it. The pipeline includes:
- A lead finder that searches Google Places by keyword and location, with results you can push into your contacts.
- Default stages New, Contacted, Qualified, Won and Lost, editable per workspace with colours.
- Next follow-up dates and an activity log on every lead.
- Rule-based lead scores (hot, warm, cold) from weights you can tune.
- Stage changes, wins and losses can start an automation.
To track enquiries that arrive by chat, use tags (for example "Wholesale"), contact fields, assignment to a salesperson and inbox statuses. See the AI lead qualification agent.
Why use a CRM instead of an Excel sheet?
An Excel sheet works until the list grows and several people use it. The table compares the two:
| Excel or Google Sheet | SaleMag CRM | |
|---|---|---|
| New customers added | By hand | From chats, store orders and imports |
| Duplicate phone numbers | Possible | One contact per phone number |
| Opt-in per channel | Your own column | WhatsApp, SMS and email flags, checked before sends |
| Conversation history | No | Recent conversations on the contact page |
| Send a campaign | Copy numbers to another tool | Pick a segment or tag as the audience |
Who is the SaleMag CRM for?
- F-commerce shops that want to sell again to past buyers.
- Teams that share one customer list across WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram.
- Agencies and B2B sellers looking for prospects on Google Places.

Frequently asked questions
What is a WhatsApp CRM?
A WhatsApp CRM is a customer database built around phone numbers and chats. It keeps each customer's details, tags and conversations in one place, so a business can group customers and message them on WhatsApp, SMS or email.
Can I import my customer list from Excel into SaleMag?
Yes. The SaleMag CSV import wizard takes up to 10,000 rows and 10 MB and maps columns to name, phone, email, country, language, tags and opt-ins. The bulk import grid accepts .xlsx files with Name, Phone, Tag and Segment columns.
Does SaleMag create duplicate contacts when the same buyer messages twice?
No. SaleMag keeps one contact per phone number in each workspace. A contact from chat, a store or an import is matched on phone first, then on email, and the existing contact is updated.
Can a SaleMag segment filter by tag?
No. SaleMag segment rules work on contact fields such as name, phone, email, country, language, source, opt-ins and dates. To message everyone with a tag, choose the tag directly as the campaign audience.
Does SaleMag track customer opt-in?
Yes. Every SaleMag contact has separate WhatsApp, SMS and email opt-in flags. A new customer who messages first on WhatsApp is opted in for WhatsApp, the email unsubscribe link switches email opt-in off, and campaigns skip contacts who are not opted in.
Can I add WhatsApp or Messenger enquiries to the SaleMag lead pipeline?
No. The SaleMag lead pipeline only holds prospects found with the Google Places lead finder. Track chat enquiries with tags, contact fields, assignment and inbox statuses instead.
Can I export my contacts from SaleMag?
Yes. SaleMag exports contacts as CSV, filtered by search, tag, segment or selection. The export includes name, phone, email, tags, opt-ins and created date.
Is the SaleMag CRM a separate product?
No. The CRM comes with the SaleMag inbox and campaigns, not as a separate tool. Plan prices are on the pricing page.
